GET Care Canada: Bridging Faith and Mental Health
A Ministry Committed to Compassionate Training & Outreach
“Take tender care of those who are weak. Be patient with everyone.”
1 Thessalonians 5:14b
Our Story
As pastors, we (Dr. Gerry and the team) recognized a growing need: churches and community leaders lacked the training to respond to mental health issues. This led to graduate-level studies in mental health and the founding of GET Care Canada in 2018.
Why Mental Health?
Mental illness affects 1 in 5 Canadians annually—touching children, families, and entire communities.
Key statistics:
Over 1 million youth aged 9–19 in Canada face mental health challenges.
28% of young adults experience a mental illness each year.
First Nations youth are 5–6 times more likely to die by suicide than non-Indigenous peers.
When stigma (even religious stigma) prevents open dialogue, communities suffer in silence. GET Care Canada exists to break that silence and foster understanding, connection, and care.
Our Mission & Vision
At GET Care Canada, our mission is to equip churches, nonprofits, and communities to address mental health with both compassion and competence—grounded in faith and informed by current best practices. We believe that emotional wellness and spiritual care go hand in hand, and that every person—regardless of belief—deserves understanding, support, and hope.
We envision a future where:
Mental health training is normalized across church and community settings
Support groups serve vulnerable populations like youth and children
Christian leaders are confident engaging mental wellness as a pathway to discipleship and evangelism
Diverse communities—including secular and interfaith partners—collaborate to reduce stigma and build stronger networks of care
By combining mental health education with incarnational ministry, we aim to cultivate connection, healing, and spiritual transformation in every context we serve. Whether you're inside or outside the church, we want to meet you where you are—and walk with you toward hope.
Our work is rooted in incarnational ministry—being present in communities, walking with people where they are, and building trust even in non-faith spaces.
